Course Invitation & Overview
I want to thank all of you who tuned into the recent 3 week Online Satsang series on Embodiment (the recordings are available on the Audio page). It was a great success and I was truly moved by the response. Thank you to everyone who took part in this Satsang Series, and for all your lovely emails of support, encouragement, generous donations, and your offers of help. I'm truly touched by all your love and support!
The heartwarming response to the Online Satsang series has encouraged me to create a 4 Module Online course which I've entitled “Awakening Practice Tools”. I’ve decided to create a course on this topic because I've been asked by many people over the years to share practices and techniques which are effective in helping one awaken to and embody their True Nature. Although my core message offers the invitation to directly awaken to our True Nature in this very moment, I have repeatedly seen that having a regular spiritual practice can be incredibly helpful in both our awakening, as well as our integration and embodiment process.
In this course I'm offering the techniques and practices in a way that will make them accessible to everyone, regardless of where they are in their awakening journey. If you don’t currently have a meditation, inquiry, releasing/clearing, or body centered practice, I've offered simple yet effective practices that will allow you to develop a regular meditation and spiritual practice that you can carry forth into your life. If you already have a spiritual practice, I have presented the techniques in a way that can help clarify and re-focus your attention, intention, and energy in ways that can more effectively align your practice towards spiritual awakening.
The Core Practices of the Non-Dual Path
Having had a consistent meditation/sitting practice for the last 15 years, and having met with hundreds of people on the awakening journey over the years, I’ve repeatedly seen the benefits of a regular spiritual practice, as well as engaging different psycho-spiritual techniques and modalities from time to time. This includes after one has had a spiritual shift or awakening and offers them access to the state of Witnessing Consciousness. Many of the techniques I have offered came to my awareness after profound shifts had set my awakening process into motion.
Having had an openness and an interest in trying out many tools and techniques, while continually relaxing the sense of effort and control, allowed me to discover what I like to call ‘Natural Inquiry’. This is a moment to moment, effortless and intuitive curiosity coupled with an ongoing unhooking from our experience by resting as Presence. Although it becomes more effective effortless over time, I've found that applying skillful effort at the right time helps quicken the process, and helps to prevent us for getting caught up in the common pitfalls, fixations, and emotional contractions that are part of the spiritual unfoldment.
I often share that the core practices of the direct path to awakening are meditation, inquiry, and clearing/releasing. Because I see that the ultimate fruition of these practices is not simply in the culmination of a peak experience and a recognition of our True Nature, but instead a more abiding, stable, and embodied Awakening, on some level there is no end to a spiritual practice that reflects our Essential Nature. I ultimately define meditation as Abiding as our True Nature, which is the natural, resting state of our True Nature. After awakening, the practice begins to lose its seeking and striving quality, and instead simply becomes an effortless expression of our Beingness, and the foundation for an unending curiosity and exploration of what is. We discover that Awake, Aware, Presence is accessible and available in more and more dynamic situations, especially 'off the meditation cushion' so to speak, and is less and less dependent upon the quality of our internal experience.
Inquiry as Curiosity
I ultimately define inquiry as curiosity, which is a natural quality of our True Nature. As such, there is also no end to the depth of our moment to moment recognition of who and what we truly are, or the continuous embracing and allowing of our arising experience as it is. Lastly, I ultimately define clearing and releasing as the natural state of letting go and flow, or the spontaneous movement towards unfixation. Even when emotional contractions or energetic knots arise in us, our True Nature is always moving us towards balance, harmony, and energetic equilibrium, doing so effortlessly and in the most easeful way. The other auxiliary practices that I've offered in this course support and uphold these underlying core practices and values, and seek to show the importance of taking care of our bodies and energy systems, developing healthy human relationships, and living our human lives in skillful and common sense ways.
My invitation and guidance related to spiritual practice is always a movement from effort to effortlessness, from willful effort to fluidity and flow, and from focus and a sense of direction or knowing, to a state of relaxation, softening, and an opening into the Unknown. Keep in mind that when I connect with people, I always meet people where they are at in the moment, so the inquires and dialogues aren't necessarily directly related to the content of the week's topic, only what is alive and arising in your experience.
Although this course is centered around spiritual practice, and offers different techniques and practices to help support one’s spiritual unfoldment, having a spiritual practice isn't necessary to get benefit from this course. All the pointers, topics, and practices offered in this course are relevant to wherever a person is in their unfoldment, and support the discovery of more peace, freedom, love, creativity, and joy in our lives. Beyond exploring the essence and the practice of effective spiritual techniques, the underlying intention of this course was to simply come together in community, and to offer our support, Presence, Love, and our Wisdom with each other as we deepen in our awakening and embodiment.
I warmly invite you into this online Course, and taking this journey with you. I wish you all the best on your path towards Awakening and healing.
With Love and Blessings
